Description: Kawartha
Ecological Growers (KEG) is a non profit
organization committed to supporting
small scale sustainable food production
in the western Kawartha Lakes. A collective
of 14 small family farms, we provide
"good, clean, fair food" to
the GTA and the Kawartha Lakes. Although
not all our farms are certified organic,
we all produce high quality food grown
in an ecologically responsible manner,
and ensure all our growers and their
staff receive fair wages for their hard
work.
Together Kawartha Ecological Growers
produce a wide variety of seasonal fruits,
vegetables, herbs, cut flowers, eggs
and meats, as well as maple syrup, honey,
pickles and preserves. All of KEG's
produce is picked and delivered as fresh
as humanly possible - often you will
receive items that have been harvested
within 24 hours of delivery.
We offer a 23 week seasonal CSA program
from mid-June to late November. To eliminate
packaging, we bring the food in bulk
to our arranged pickup locations, and
you fill up your bags with weekly seasonal
produce.
Several Toronto fine dining restaurants
have trusted KEG to supply their restaurants
with top quality goods for over four
years. This list includes Jamie Kennedy
Wine Bar, Drake Hotel, Table 17, Chez
Victor, Healthy Butcher, Vertical Restaurant,
Starfish, Canoe, Red's Bistro, Gladstone
Hotel and many more.
