Description:
About Us: Soutar Highlands Farm is owned
and operated by Sandy and Donna Soutar
& Sheila Etches. Donna & Sheila are
4th generation Soutar serving the North
Bay area from this location since 1913
and are proud to introduce new in 2010
Community Shared Agriculture and in
2011 Natural Horse Boarding components
to our operation.
We use a Nature Balanced approach to
produce our crops by adding large quantities
of organics back to the soil as a means
of fertilizing, moisture retention and
pest control. Our belief is that plants
grown in healthy well balanced soil
will naturally resist disease and insects
greatly reducing, even eliminating,
the need for chemical fertilizers or
pesticides. This approach also minimizes
the amount of irrigation necessary to
produce succulent and flavorful produce
all with minimum negative impact to
our environment.
Having lived on the farm her entire
life and continuing to raise her 2 sons
here, Donna is very pleased not to have
used chemical fertilizers or pesticide
on the crops for over 15 years. Soutar
Highlands Farm is not Organic Certified
nor are we seeking certification. However
due to the loss of their beloved father
and mentor Dave (who farmed this land
over 50 years) to stomach cancer in
2009, the girls are more strongly convicted
than ever in the decision not to use
chemicals in the production of food
for the family and the North Bay community.

In the early part of the season the

as the season progresses quantity and
variety will be balanced out. Deliveries
will end the last Wednesday in October.

share/half share and the share subscriptions
will be taken on a first come, first
