Many farmers raise livestock and grow their crops nearby, so we have the opportunity to meet and talk about how we can contribute to the agriculture sector.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, farms develop practices with the guidance and support of their community members. Farms don\u2019t promote the usage of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sprays<\/li>\n<li>Black Plastic Mulch<\/li>\n<li>GMOs<\/li>\n<li>Synthetic Fertilizers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to understand the harmful effects of these substances and highly discourage farmers to apply these to their crops. CSA Farms are committed to reducing waste, teaching everyone about organic vegetable farming, and producing renewable energy. Here are some things to consider when you are starting an organic vegetable garden or farm:<\/p>\n<h3>The Organic Certification Procedure<\/h3>\n<p>Ask advice from the experts on which accredited certifying agencies can guide you through your application. You are required to renew your certification on an annual basis.<\/p>\n<h3>Plant Selection<\/h3>\n<p>Choose plants with healthy colours and those that aren\u2019t budding or haven\u2019t fully bloomed. You need to keep your eye on new roots.<\/p>\n<h3>Pest Management<\/h3>\n<p>Plant certain types of flowers such as daisies, marigolds, or sunflowers to attract more helpful insects. Bumblebees will come around to pollinate plants while praying mantises will consume the pests in your garden.<\/p>\n<h3>Soil Conditioners and Fertilizers<\/h3>\n<p>You can begin with organic garden soil or create your compost pile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CSA Farms teaches about producing organic vegetables while educating the community about the importance of sustainability.
